Markham Public Art Curator wins 2025 GOG Personnel Award

We are pleased to announce that Yan Wu, the City of Markham Public Art Curator, has received the Changemaker BIPOC award, one of three prestigious annual Personnel honours, given out as part of this year’s 48th Annual GOG Awards.
Yan Wu is a curator, writer, and translator whose work explores the intersections of contemporary art, architecture, and the making of public space. As the City of Markham’s Public Art Curator, she led the development of the City’s first five-year Public Art Master Plan and currently oversees its implementation. Wu also curated the award-winning public art project Lost and Found, which was later exhibited at the Varley Art Gallery as part of our 2024 Winter Exhibition.
The Galeries Ontario / Ontario Galleries (GOG) Awards celebrate the outstanding achievement, artistic merit, and excellence of arts institutions and professionals in the public art gallery sector. This year’s theme, Make Your Mark – Laissez Votre Marque, focuses on defending Canadian cultural sovereignty, and supporting the arts as a public good.
