May 23 | Main St. Unionville Road Closure Notice

As the Main Street Unionville Reconstruction Project nears completion, the City of Markham invites local businesses and residents to the Unionville Main Street Reopening Celebration at Unionville Main Street on Saturday, May 23, from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM. The event will feature recognition of Hometown Heroes, live entertainment, free family-friendly activities, and complimentary ice cream.

As a business or resident in the immediate area, please note that road closures will be in effect to help ensure the safety of attendees, participants, and the community. This is in keeping with the City’s responsibility to meet legislative requirements and follow best practices for event management. We understand this may cause some inconvenience and greatly appreciate your patience and cooperation. Every effort will be made to minimize disruptions during the event.

The following street closures may affect you during the Unionville Main Street Reopening Celebration on May 23. Please also watch for posted signage on affected streets.

Saturday, May 23 | 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM:

Main Street Unionville, from Carlton Road to Laneway, and Fred Varley Drive, from Fonthill Boulevard to Main Street Unionville, will be closed to through traffic.

About the Event

The Unionville Main Street Reopening Celebration will offer fun for the whole family, including a variety of children’s activities such as photo opportunities with the City of Markham mascot, Millie the Butterfly, airbrush tattoos, a magic performance, interactive games, and inflatables.

The event will also celebrate and recognize local Olympians, Paul Poirier and Piper Gilles, along with other Hometown Heroes.

Please drive carefully in the vicinity of the event. Throughout the day, kindly follow the directions of City staff, security personnel, and York Regional Police.
